Bom Samaritanos
charity golf at Gramacho
The DOMINGOS golf group
organised their annual charity golf game at Gramacho on
28th May, to support the Bom Smaritanos
choldrens home in Alvor, which is home to 36 abused children
of all ages from all parts of Portugal. The home needs
additional transport to ferry children to and from the
schools, sports fields etc, and the DOMINGOS, along with
other organisations, are trying to raise 20,000 euros to
buy a minibus.
We thank the management at Pestana
for allowing us once again
to use their Gramacho golf course to hold this event, and
we also thank Rui Gago and the staff at Gramacho, for
helping us to organise the event.
Forty golfers took part in the competition, and the three
main prizes, of a meal for two people, were provided by
restaurants from the Carvoeiro area,
namely:
◦ La Bella Vita in Clube Atlantico
◦ Poco Partido
◦ Happy’s
We thank these restaurants
once again for their support.
The overall winner of the Stableford competition was Bob
Davey with 37 points;
the best score by a lady was Mal Chessman with 34 points,
and by a gentleman (excluding the overall winner), was
Dick Chessman also with 34 points.
In addition there
were three prizes for “nearest the pin”.
A lunch was provided after the game, and there was a
raffle of ten prizes donated by supporters of the cause.
Finally, the event raised in
excess of 1,600 euros for Bom Samaritinos to which we hope to
add a further 1,200 euros later in the year, and we would
like to thank all the participants and their guests for
their support.
